14:00 - 17:30 Ms Heidi Moore (facilitator) Hands-on Workshop
Venue: Tygerberg Hospital (limited to 32 delegates)

A Practical Demonstration Workshop consists of a few different stations where an expert scans a patient, demonstrating the technique to perform a particular aspect of fetal assessment (e.g. first trimester detail scan, central nervous system, aneuploidy risk assessment, cardiac scan etc.) to a small group of delegates. The delegates rotate through several stations where other experts show different aspects and techniques, so the delegates are ultimately exposed to all aspects covered in the workshop.
The program of these two worskhops is very similar, but is offered by different teams of experts at different venues.

For the Hands-on Workshop patients have agreed to be scanned by the delegates.  The delegates will be physically assisted by trainers in improving their image quality and scanning technique to obtain the correct scanning planes required for a routine detail scan.  A small group of delegates gathers around one patient and the delegates take turns to scan, learning both from each others' struggles and their own scanning attempts.

During the Case-based Interactive Workshop, visual material will be shared on structural fetal or uterine abnormalities (presentation, significance, differential diagnosis etc.)  and practical scenarios will be used to illustrate issues with counselling for prenatal screening and testing.

Please note that complimentary transfers will be available from the Protea Hotel Stellenbosch to Panorama Mediclinic, Fetal Assessment Fetal Assessment Centre (3b the Quadrant Square, Wilderness Road, Claremont) and Tygerberg Hospital, for delegates who register for the respective workshops.

Please contact the congress secretariat (Londocor) to reserve your seat.
